Hawaii Pacific University Business Analytics Certificate

A Professional Certificate in Business Analytics provides a focus in data collection and presentation to aid in optimizing a business plan and being able to showcase that to other high-level employees in the company or stakeholders to gain a competitive advantage. The four courses needed to complete the curriculum are Business Analytics, Network Analysis, Data Mining for Business Intelligence, and Big Data. These courses can be counted toward the Master of Science in Information Systems program if completed before enrollment. Students are expected to hold a Bachelor's degree with a 2.7 GPA or higher when applying to a certification.

University of Hawaii-Manoa MS in Computer Science

The Master of Science in Computer Science provides an opportunity for experienced professionals to advance their career in the IT sector or to prepare for even further education into the PhD program. To complete the program, students need to take an orientation class at the beginning and complete six regular ICS courses and two additional ICS courses (or related) between the 600 and 692 numbers (excluding the orientation class at 690). Example courses to take are Advanced Data Management, Machine Learning, Information Architecture, and Bioinformatics.

To culminate the program, students will select a thesis or a capstone project to demonstrate what they have learned in the curriculum. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required to graduate and all courses must have a C grade or higher.

As an alternative for undergraduates, Leeward Community College does provide an Academic Subject Certificate in Information and Computer Science, which prepares students for the full related Bachelor's degree at UH Manoa.

Scholarship Opportunities within Hawaii

For graduate students at Hawaii-Manoa, the Ike Wai Graduate Scholarship gives out nearly a $30,000 salary and tuition waiver for two years toward a full-time graduate student that is pursuing a Master or PhD with a research focus. In order to be eligible, a research project must be conducted that relates to Ike Wai and is approved by a faculty member.
