Applicants do not have to be in a certain field to qualify for the program, but they must demonstrate basic knowledge in statistics and probability, linear algebra, programming (Python, Java, SAS, etc.), working with SQL queries (or at least two years with Microsoft Access), and analytics.
Rochester Institute of Technology
A Master of Science in Data Science can be obtained online through the Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences. 30 credit hours are needed to complete the curriculum at RIT, which begins with a Data Science MicroMasters offered through edX and counts as 9 total credits. Courses offered through RIT are DS management, software engineering, applied linear models and regression, three electives in computing, math, and statistics, and a capstone project.
