In Depth Review of Online Data Science Programs in Ohio, Updated for 2024

Kent State University Master of Digital Sciences

The School of Digital Sciences offers a Master of Digital Sciences with a concentration in Data Science that can be completed fully online without any trips to the university. There is an emphasis on data mining and machine learning while using various types up data sets (from structured to unstructured). The degree is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Required courses in this concentration are Enterprise Architecture, Data Architecture, Data Science, Semantic Analysis Methods and Technologies, and Knowledge Organization Structures.

To satisfy the requirements of the degree, 32 credits must be completed, which will take 12 to 16 months for full-time students and up to three years for part-time. There are three different opportunities each year to enter into the program, but full-time prospects can only join in the fall or spring. No work experience or testing results need to be sent in for admission, but the college recommends having a Bachelor's degree with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Ohio University MBA

Through the College of Business, a Master of Business Administration can be completed 100 percent online and features a challenging curriculum but with a fully flexible schedule. The program is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). 35 total credits are needed to complete the degree, 26 of those among core courses. Most classes are three credits with the exception of the Applied Business Experience, which is just two credits. The other nine credits come from three courses in one of the following concentrations:
