Online Data Science Programs in Louisiana

Louisiana State University MBA focused on Statistics & Grad Certificate in Analytics

The Flores Master of Business Administration Program at LSU can be completed 100 percent online. The curriculum provides a fusion of traditional business classes with analytics and information systems. 14 courses (42 credit hours) are needed to complete the degree, and each course is completed in seven weeks, which means the entire program can be completed in as little as 18 months. There is no requirement to meet on-campus.

33 of the 42 credit hours needed are core business classes as the remaining 9 credits are reserved for electives. Example core courses in the curriculum are Managerial Statistics, Elements of Cost Management, Marketing Administration, and Legal Environment of Business. Analytical and information systems courses can be selected here to customize the degree toward the data science field.

Another option at LSU is obtaining a Graduate Certificate in Analytics, which is offered by the Stephenson Department of Entrepreneurship and Information Systems. . The curriculum is strictly four different levels of analytical courses and there is a capstone project at the conclusion. The program can be completed in less than a year. Pursuing a Master's degree or certification requires a Bachelor's degree with a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher.

Tulane University Master's in IT Management with Cybersecurity Concentration

Through the School of Professional Advancement, students can earn an online Master of Professional Studies in Information Technology Management. This is for those transitioning from an experienced IT worker into a high-level leader or executive. Coursework will consist of IT and cybersecurity governance and policy and enterprise architecture. There are three concentrations to choose from to customize the degree: Cybersecurity, Emergency Operations, and Homeland Security. The program culminates with a capstone project that will use their skills to solve real-world problems from the lens of a CIO.

In order to apply to the program, students will need a Bachelor's degree with a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher. Louisiana Tech University Master of Health Informatics

The College of Applied and Natural Sciences offers a Master of Health Informatics that can only be completed online. Students will be able to work in the healthcare sector with experience in analyzing data and statistical methods. In order to apply, prospective students will need to send in an application form with fee, essay, recommendation letters, transcripts, and a resume. The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Health Informatics and Information Management (CAHIIM).

45 credit hours are needed to complete the program. Example courses in the curriculum are Healthcare Compliance, Database Architecture, Clinical Information Systems, Evaluation of Information Systems, and Computerized Decision Support. A capstone project culminates the program.

Scholarship Opportunities within Louisiana

A full tuition exemption is given to 200 students that are enrolled in the Master of Science in Analytics program. There is a preference toward minority students, such as African-Americans and Latin Americans, and nominated by the department.
