Online Data Science Programs in North Dakota
University of North Dakota
One of the biggest universities in the state offers a Master of Science in Data Science that can be completed on-campus at Grand Forks or 100 percent online. The 30-credit curriculum has either a thesis or non-thesis track, the latter only being an option online and is replaced with an additional elective course and capstone project. Both options require an oral presentation to faculty members. There are three mandatory courses for either option: Advanced Database Systems, Data Engineering and Management, and High Performance Computing and Paradigms.
Additionally, there are areas of emphasis: Business Analytics, Educational Foundations and Research, and Behavioral Data Analytics, all requiring nine credit hours to complete. Prospective students should have a Bachelor's degree and at least a 2.85 cumulative GPA, and they need to submit GRE scores and a statement of purpose. Online courses are very similar to the on-campus counterpart with on-demand course materials and proctored exams through ProctorU. The program is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
