Online Data Science Programs in Oregon

Oregon State University

There are a couple of Master's degrees that can be obtained in the data science field at Oregon State. Through the College of Science and Department of Statistics, the Mater of Science in Data Analytics is a 45-credit program that is offered completely online. For those that have not taken statistics coursework in the past, an introduction prerequisite course is available. There are core courses in statistics (21 credits) and computer science (12 credits). Wrapping up the degree are 12 credits worth of electives in this selection of courses:

In order to get into either program, prospective students must submit an application form with a $75 fee, transcripts, three letters of recommendation, and a cover letter detailing information such as programming and data experience.

Another program is the Master of Business Administration in Business Analytics through the College of Business. This can be obtained entirely online or a hybrid of online courses with in-person classes in Portland or Bend. Specific coursework under the Business Analytics specialization is Data Analytics for Competitive Advantage, Data Management, Data Exploration and Visualization, Data and Text Mining, and an project that culminates the program.

University of Portland

Another accelerated data science program in the state of Oregon is a Business Analytics Certificate through the Pamplin School of Business. This is a curriculum accredited through the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). There are four courses required to complete this degree: Decision Modeling, Database Management, Business Analytics, and Optimization.

These courses fall under the Master of Business Administration concentration of Operations and Technology Management. Classes can be taken 100 percent online or on-campus in Portland, unlike the full MBA which must be completed in-person.
