University of Wisconsin Online MS in Data Science

The asynchronous online Master of Science in Data Science program through the University of Wisconsin gives students complete freedom learning on their own time. No courses have set times to meet, there are no requirements to meet on campus, and all software tools will be available through a virtual lab. Students will be using some of the most popular software such as Python, R, SQL, and Tableau in their coursework. Some material can be accessed on mobile devices, but programming and quizzes are recommended on computers and laptops.

Education in elementary statistics, programming, and database is needed before starting the program. University of Wisconsin-Madison: Masters in Data Science

The Department of Statistics offers a Master’s degree with a named option in Data Science. Graduate students can enroll in this specialized program in the spring or fall and requires a submission of GRE scores and three letters of recommendation. Students must either have at least five years of work experience or hold a Bachelor’s degree, and they should have prior coursework credit in statistics, probability, calculus, and linear algebra. This program is only available on-campus, but it can be accelerated.

At least 30 credits need to be completed while maintaining a 3.00 GPA to satisfy the degree requirement. 21 credits are spread among a number of required statistical and data science courses and the other nine are electives. At least three credits need to be at the 600-level, and some examples are Statistical Methods for Clinical Trials, Applied Time Series Analysis, Decision Trees for Multivariate Analysis, and Introduction to Bayesian Decision and Control.

University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee MBA with Mathematics Concentrations

The Lubar School of Business offers a very flexible Master of Business Administration program. A blend of on-campus lectures and online coursework can be done through a 20-month cohort, or the full curriculum can be completed online, on-campus, or in a hybrid format. 39 credits are needed to satisfy the degree, with the exception of foundation courses in Business Mathematics and Financial Accounting that are required before entering the program.
