Online Data Science Programs in Nebraska
University of Nebraska-Lincoln
The College of Business offers a Master of Science in Business Analytics, a program that is available both on-campus and online. 30 credits are required to complete the degree, separated with 8 core courses and an additional two electives, and coursework will involve topics such as supply chain management, predictive analytics, and data management and organization. All courses will take eight weeks to complete. This program is best suited for working professionals in the fields of data, analytical, and supply chain management.
Students can enter into the program in January, May, or August. Online coursework uses the Canvas learning management system. The mobile app will alert students with any course updates and they generally view and work with some class materials through a mobile device. Canvas also allows faculty and other students to connect with each other with discussion boards and live chat features. Another benefit of enrolling into this program is working with a career coach and having 24/7 online resume review.
Another online option at the University of Nebraska is obtaining a Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics, which is simply a truncated version of the full Master's degree. Required courses in the 12-credit curriculum are Business Analytics, Introductory Econometrics, and Data-Driven Market Strategy. All required classes are three credits each and students will select an additional elective course, with options in predictive analytics, modeling risk simulation, and data mining.
Bellevue University
Another program to consider in the state of Nebraska is a Master of Science in Data Science at Bellevue, which is offered online. The program is geared toward those that are new into the data science field, but it is recommended for students to have some background coursework in math and statistics. Other requirements for admission are holding at least a Bachelor's degree with a cumulative 2.5 GPA or better. Prospective students need to submit an application with a fee (this is excluded for Bellevue alumni), and essays or letters of recommendation by request. This program is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
There are 10 preselected courses that are needed to complete the program, beginning with introductory courses into data science and Python and R programming. After that, some examples of the courses students will take are Data Mining, Predictive Analytics, and Data Presentation and Visualization. Upon completion of the degree, graduates should be able to analyze datasets and use the right data modeling techniques to find answers when optimizing and fixing company processes.
Creighton University
Creighton offers a Master of Science in Analytics online and a Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics on-campus. The Master's degree is fully offered online in an asynchronous format and features a curriculum that can be fully customized to meet the student's needs. The program is set up to be completed in roughly two years, and admission takes place in January and August. Requirements to get into the program are a Bachelor's degree with a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher, and students will need to send an application with a fee, official transcripts, personal statement, and two letters of recommendation.
33 credit hours are needed to complete the program, divided up with 21 credits of core courses like Python programming, statistics, and ethics in data analytics, and 12 credits of floating courses, or electives. Some elective options are Applications of Optimization Modeling, Data Governance, Data Warehousing and Advanced Database Systems, and Business Intelligence and IT Readings. Graduates that have completed this degree have gone on to become software developers, data scientists, and marketing analysts.

Up to 12 hours of tuition remission are given each semester along with health insurance benefits.
The Heider College of Business at Creighton University offers graduate assistantships that will waive 18 credit hours worth of tuition fees for 20 hours of student services if they are enrolled full-time in the program. Part-time students can eliminate half the cost of one business course. Assistantships can be held for up to two years, and they are only available in the fall and spring semesters.
